The Stable Grazer: Feeding time made easy

Taking care of horses can be all consuming. I love it, but I also love finding equipment and creating systems that make the chores easier, faster and every once in a while automated. Enter, the Stable Grazer. I absolutely LOVE this piece of barn equipment. It’s a total game-changer when it comes to feeding my two Friesians.

So what is the Stable Grazer? It's an automatic hay feeder. Yep, that's right... it drops hay at specified times that I have set, and I don't need to be there...hence the automatic part.  The stable grazer has six trays. Every morning I load each try with the carefully weighed hay to insure the horses are getting the proper amount. I have the timer set to drop 6 times through the day and into the evening. This schedule maintains a steady flow of good quality hay throughout the day. The horses never get hangry or food aggressive as they have meals sprinkled through the day. I also love that breakfast is fed at 5am before I even arrive at the barn, so when I do arrive for my morning ride, both the horses have eaten and are ready to go. In addition to hay I also feed soaked cubes along with their supplements. This part of their diet I feed when I am there, for obvious reasons... but knowing that the hay has already dropped and the horses are happy and content gives me a lot of peace of mind.

It’s also been a huge relief in terms of reducing waste. No more hay getting scattered all over the barn, and no more worrying about overeating or gulping down food too quickly. IF you have horses in stalls it's great too as it keeps them busy and occupied throughout the day without being tied to a manual feeding schedule.

If you’re looking for a way to simplify your feeding routine and make sure your horses are always getting the right amount of food, I can’t recommend the Stable Grazer enough. It’s made a world of difference for me and my Friesians, and I’m sure it will do the same for you!

Thanks for reading this little piece from my Friesian Chronicles. I’ll be back with more stories soon!
