Riding for a Cause! The FHANA Ride and Drive Event
The Friesian Horse Association of North American (FHANA’s) Ride and Drive event is in full swing and Izzie and I are all signed up and tracking our rides!
This is the first year for this fun Ride and Drive event. It is a virtual event bringing together Friesian enthusiasts from cross North America showing the verticality of the Friesian horse and love we all share for our black beauties. Proceeds from the Ride and Drive event support the FHANA Research Initiative.
You can participate on any days between April 1- July 31st 2024. Participants are asked to ride and/or drive your Friesian horse for a minimum of 24 hours during these dates, although the real goal is to have fun with your horse, connect with other Friesian enthusiasts and support a great cause! Izzie and I are racking up our hours and having a blast.
Participating in this event has given us an extra incentive to actually track our rides. I’ve chosen to use the app Ridely. This app has been fantastic. It allows me to track the days I ride, what type of activity I do; ie. A trail ride, Dressage training or to add a custom field. I can select the distance we rode, the time we spent riding and even the intensity I felt the ride was for that day.
You can participate alone or with friends! Send in your photos for a chance to be featured on the FHANA social media pages. Our Friesian horses are so amazing! It has been super fun to see everyone posting their photos and sharing their rides or drives with their horses.
Included with your entry fee you will receive a FHANA Ride + Drive T-shirt!! The logo was designed by the very talented Jess Dodge. You can find more of her work @Jessbirchamillustration. Thank you Jess!
There will be prizes for:
The Best Location
The Best Group Photo
The Furthest Distance Travelled
And The Best Dressed (fancy dress encouraged!)
Details: Fee: $35 (all proceeds to benefit the FHANA Research Grant)
When: Anytime between April 1 – July 31, 2024
